Lead Teacher Amanda Youngblood Woke us up with the Brain Dance and Guided us from Color Theory and Geometry to Abstract Painting

After a Monday morning "Brain Dance" warm-up, dressed in analogous colors, lead teacher Amanda Youngblood guided us from color families to perception of contrast through visual perception and illusions, into geometry concepts using compasses and protractors, concluding with abstract artists and a painting lesson. Who knew we could learn so much in a few hours?

Developed by Anne Green Gilbert, the BrainDance is a series of exercises comprised of eight developmental movement patterns that healthy human beings naturally move through in the first year of life. As babies, we did these movements on our tummies, sides, and back on the floor.

Fabulous #STEAMTeam2016

Not even a lack of air conditioning in the COE stopped our teaching and learning! The industrial-sized fan kept the STEAM Team cool.
